How to Find the Best Books on Relationships and Which Ones to Avoid?

If you have experienced breakups, marriages, divorces or relationships in general-you are definitely in the marketplace for books on relationships. When choosing the best books on relationships, you need to be able to decipher fact from fiction. Here are a few things to keep in mind when looking for answers in the form of a book:

Don't be fooled by fancy titles and a dozen letters behind a name.

Despite public opinion, real life experience and common sense are much more valuable and useful than generated knowledge or massive, study sessions on the topic. Fancy degrees, titles and credit hours don't necessarily equate to "expert knowledge" and if the "expert" hasn't had any relevant experience than how can he help you, right?

Look for authors with real-life experiences

Simply put, you should look for an author who's experienced what they are talking about. The author should have experienced a troubled relationship, a marriage, divorce, anything that says it wasn't something they read or "studied" through a curriculum.

Seek new ideas and information

There are so many e-books, books and articles that try to put a spin on very old information. A shiny, book cover with dated information will make you more frustrated than before. Look for information that expresses new ideas and insight on relationships. By avoiding, the dated "self-reflection" or "get your ex back" reports, you should be able to uncover the new, information you're seeking. Getting a book that isn't concerned with political correctness is particularly beneficial when it comes to books regarding relationship advice.

Look for quality recommendations/testimonials

When looking for most products or services, we customarily seek out recommendations and approval by sources that were previously in our shoes. You have to evaluate exactly who is recommending the book you're getting and how convincing are the testimonials. Are the testimonials generic and bland? Are they convincing? Quite frankly, were they written by the author's family and friends instead of real customers? If the recommendations and testimonials look authentic and realistic than that is a good indication that the book is a good purchase.

Unfortunately, the vast majority of the books in this genre is rubbish and is written by someone who doesn't have much, real-life experience. If you feel that the book is full of fluff and not of substance, don't waste your time or money. Follow your instincts. It may take a little effort but finding the best books on relationships is well worth it. Good Luck!
