Free Lawyer Advice
Lawyers are expensive, but it does not have to cost an arm and a leg. Free lawyer advice is available if you know where to look.
Our main piece of advice when it comes to lawyers is: go to all means to avoid being put in a situation where you might end in having to go to court. Whatever you do, in business, driving your car down the street, and in your leisure time, try not to break any laws. This means everything, even what some might consider the small thing. Don't drive your car unregistered, or after you have lost your licence. Don't drink drive, and if you do, stay under the legal limit. Laws will always be broken, either by accident, or perhaps through carelessness.
Also avoid any activities that might cause someone to want to sue you. Being sued is not a pleasant, or free, experience.
Initially Seek advice from online websites, legal forums, and forums that specialise in the crime or civil breach of law that is specific to your case. There are pros and cons with this method. The main one being you can not be sure how valid the legal advice you are receiving is. The person on the other end of the screen could be a QC from Australia's leading law firm, or it could be an 18 year-old law student. Overall though, online communities in professional fields tend to be friendly and offer helpful advice. Just keep in mind it may not be accurate, and always seek a second opinion.
Lastly, ask around. They say everyone in the world is only 6 connections away. Even O.J. Simpson's lawyer is bound by that rule. The majority of the whole world is a friend of a friend of your friends away from in the majority of cases. The point of this is, that if you don't have a lawyer friend, you most likely have a friend who does, or one of your friend's works not in the legal industry, but almost every industry requires help from qualified lawyers (no business can exist without one). When you do find this person, befriend them, they may be willing to take your case on cheap or free, and may even accept barter for their services.
How about a mechanic fixing a lawyer's Mercedes in exchange for a small bit of legal representation and helpful advice? I have heard of this happening, so there is no reason why you couldn't come to some arrangement like this either.
So there you go. Now you know, above all else you should avoid court at all costs, because legal fees are expensive, and nobody wants to pay the high costs that a good lawyer charges.
