10 Top Secrets To Planning A Memorable Baby Shower
Planning a baby shower can be very fun and exciting! This is an event that every mother will attend at least once. I want to share with you 10 top secrets on how you can plan the most memorable one ever!
1) Gather information about the new mom-to-be and her expectations of a baby shower. Be mindful of what the new mom wants and doesn't want as this is her special day. Modern showers are being held in non-traditional way; for example, some showers include the father-to-be the planning process. Planners often ask him for suggestions on games and entertainment for baby shower guests.
2) Have the mom-to-be approve the guest list. The worst thing you can do is invite someone to the baby shower the guest of honor does not want in attendance. This is where you will want to talk to the dad-to-be or a close friend to find out her thoughts and who she wants present.
3) Get an estimate of the number of people who will be attending. Having an accurate number helps make planning the menu and games a little bit easier. This is extremely important if you are planning to have the food catered because you don't want to overspend your budget.
4) Plan the menu. Always ask the mom-to-be what she can and cannot eat because you do not want to make the guest of honor sick at her special event. You want this to be a pleasantly memorable experience for her. On page seven, you will find a list with a few of my favorite quick and healthy foods for baby showers.
5) Send out invitations to the final guest list about two to three months prior to the big day, and request that they RSVP. This will allow your guests to put the event on their calendars and ask for time off of work, if needed, to attend. You can also follow up with your guests the month prior to the shower, particularly if they have not responded to the invitation.
6) Find out the sex of the baby. If you know the gender, you can decorate accordingly. If you don't know the baby's gender, you can always use yellow or green which are considered neutral baby shower themes. For example, you could incorporate yellow duckies or green frogs.
7) Ask the mother-to-be if she has a particular theme in mind. As stated earlier, always find out the mom-to-be's expectations and her baby shower theme preference. Once you know what it is, you can decorate the location of the baby shower to coordinate with the baby's nursery.
8) Start gathering decorations. Then, choose a location, and begin decorating the place. This is the really fun part because you tend to get even more excited when you start decorating. It allows you to see the reality of the visions you had for that perfect baby shower.
9) Plan a variety of baby shower games for your guest's entertainment. While this can be left up to the shower planner, I would say no more than two or three games is necessary. After all, you don't want to wear out your guests or prolong the anticipation of the most exciting part - the gift giving.
10) Make sure each guest brings a gift to the baby shower. What better way to show the mom-to-be that you care and are very happy for the arrival of her new bundle of joy? You could even take this a step further, and design the gift yourself. And if you really want to be the talk of the shower, why not give her a custom diaper cake?
I would love to hear from you on how your baby shower turned out!
