Baby Showers - Fun, Games and Baby Gifts

Anyone who's familiar with baby showers will know they can actually be a bit divisive. Not in a terrible way, but because of the fact that in among all the baby gifts, people who know each other tend to stick together. As such, it doesn't make for great mingling. So if you're throwing a baby shower any time soon, why not think about including some icebreakers at the start? Below, you'll find a rundown of fun and games that should make the afternoon go off with a bang.

Guess Mum's Tummy Size

All you need for this one is some string and scissors. Ask each guest to cut the string to the size they think will fit perfectly around Mum's belly. The person closest to the actual size wins a prize - a share-size bag of Minstrels perhaps. Cue Smiley.

Never Say "Baby"

This one requires a tiny bit of prep work. Basically, you make a string necklace for each of the guests, who then pop it on when they arrive. Then, in the middle of the room is a large bowl of baby safety pins, so every time someone says the word "baby" they have to take a pin from the bowl and attach it to their necklace. When it's home time, the guest with the least pins wins a prize.

Pin the Sperm on the Egg

This one's exactly the same as the Pin the Tail on the Donkey, only with a swimmer and an egg instead. Hardly rocket science, but a lot of fun nonetheless.

Guess How Many Safety Pins

Another obvious one, in which you simply fill a bowl with baby safety pins and get each guess to guess how many are in there. The closest guess wins a prize.

Baby Bingo

Once everyone has arrived, label their baby gifts with a number. So, for example, if you've got 12 guests, mark each present with a number from one to 12. After that, hand out some pre-made bingo cards with, in this instance, four or five of the 12 numbers included on them. As Mum opens each baby gift, she calls out its designated number. First guest to get all their numbers called wins. Easy.

Guess the Baby Pictures

There aren't any prizes for this one, but it's still fun to see Mum trying to match the picture to the guest. As you'd expect, all you need to do is ask everyone to bring a baby snap of themselves.
