Teenage Skin Care - Make a Clean Start
Your teenage body is changing and because of this change your skin is producing more oil. This natural production of oil leaves the body through the pores of the skin which is often not a problem, but when these pores are blocked breakouts and skin eruptions can occur.
Nobody wants to have to deal with spots and we all want to have clear, glowing skin! The good news is that by looking after your teenage skin and your body - by eating healthily and establishing a good skincare regime - you can help your skin to look great.
You should approach your teenage skin care with the same importance and daily attention as you do to brushing your teeth and combing your hair. Start a skincare routine that you can stick with. Your teenage skin care routine doesn't need to be complicated. In fact, it can be very quick and easy and once you get into the habit of caring for your skin it will become like second nature.
Firstly, you need to cleanse your face at least twice a day. Wash your face in the morning and also before you go to bed at night to get rid of any oil buildup and any grime that has accumulated during the course of the day. Don't use a regular, harsh soap for washing your face though as these types of soap can be too drying for the skin. It's better to use a PH balanced facial cleanser, putting a small amount on a wash cloth and washing your face with that. Wash your face gently and don't scrub at your skin because if you do it might cause irritation and soreness! When you've washed your face well, rinse it thoroughly with lukewarm or cold water. Using lukewarm water is much kinder to the skin, and less drying, than using water that's too hot. Having a final splash with cold water will invigorate your skin and tighten your pores, which is a great way to look refreshed and alert!
As a backup, you can also use a toner after washing and rinsing your face. This will ensure that any residue from your cleanser is thoroughly removed and it will clarify your skin. A good toner will also leave your pores closed so that bacteria can't sneak back in and cause any problems!
Finally, you should apply a lightweight, oil-free moisturiser to keep your skin soft and nourished. There are many good moisturisers, and other skincare products, that are formulated especially for teenage skin so you should seek these out and use them as they are the best type for young, changeable skin.
It is important to stay away from harsh cleaners that contain alcohol and other chemicals that can damage your skin. Acne should never be aggravated further by squeezing or picking at any spots and skin eruptions. This will only worsen matters and your skin could be damaged if you poke and squeeze at spots too much! You should eat a healthy diet, including lots of fruit and vegetables, and make sure you drink plenty of water. By drinking lots of water not only will your skin and body be kept well hydrated but also any toxins will be flushed out of your system. Water is your secret weapon against acne and a necessity for achieving good teenage skin. Your goal is to drink at least 8 glasses of water a day. That might sound like a lot but it's really not and your skin and body need at least that much to be kept healthy and in great condition.
You will be amazed how the water flushes your teenage body of impurities to give you the great teenage skin that you want. Your self-confidence will skyrocket because of your clean, clear and glowing teenage skin. You will be the envy of all your friends.
