One of the most common problems of article marketers these days is that they don't know how to save their articles from getting ignored. These people spend hours doing research and in trying to put together good content for their readers only realize later on that their articles are not opened and read by their target audience. Usually, the reason why this happens is because their articles are too difficult to find online. You see, even if you articles are very informative and very useful, online users will not be able to read them if they're not showing on relevant listings each time they do their Google search. So, strive to make your articles not only reader-friendly but search-engine friendly as well. Here's how you can make that happen:

  • Look for the best keywords to target. SEO writing should always start with keyword research. Take advantage of keyword suggestion tools or keyword trackers that are being offered for free by major search engines. These tools will help you figure out the exact terms and phrases that your target audience are using each time they search for information related to your products or chosen niche.
  • Analyze the competitiveness of your chosen keywords. You don't want to focus so much of your attention on those keywords that are overly competitive or those that are being targeted by millions of your competitors. Doing so will dramatically decrease your chances of getting your articles to appear on relevant search page results. So, stick with those that are equally popular but not that competitive. Also, choose long tail keywords (those that contain at least 3 words) as much as possible.
  • Use secondary keywords. Find words that are closely related to your chosen keyword (primary keyword) and use them on your articles. This technique is called latent semantic indexing which can help you easily convince search spiders that your content is really relevant to the keyword that you're targeting.
  • Proper keyword placement. Don't just sprinkle your keywords everywhere. You'll have a better shot at securing better rankings for your articles if you place your primary keyword on your title, on the first and last sentence of your copies (ideally on the first/last 90 characters), and once for every 50 words. As for your secondary keywords, you can use them on each of your paragraphs. Just ensure that you don't sacrifice the quality and readability of your articles when in the process of optimizing them.
  • Build links for your articles. You can make your articles even more valuable to the eyes of search engines if you build links pointing to them. You can create links through your blog or website. Promoting your articles on forums and social media networks will also help. The more links you'll build for your copies, the better page ranking you'll be able to secure for them.
