Before, I tell you how you can become a Facebook Manager, I want to tell you why Social Media is so popular. It's because it's like an online hang out for people who want to connect with other people across the globe. It's fun and inviting. It's no secret that Facebook is probably the most popular Social Network with over 600 million users and still counting, Twitter follows with approximately 200 users, and LinkedIn for businesses with over 100 members. These are the Big 3, but they are not the only social networks. Social Media has a lot of viral capital. That means, if you post something online it has the potential to be spread across the internet within a matter of seconds. And that's why businesses are desperate to add Social Media Marketing to their Marketing Strategy. However, a lot of them are lost and really don't know where to start. That's where you can come in and show them how Social Networking can increase their bottom line. Here's a few pointers to get started become a Social Consultant even if you don't have any experience.

1. Set up you own Social Networks- If you don't have your own social presence, prospects will be skeptical to hire you. You want to have a certain level of perceived value where you can make it easy for the client to say yes. You don't have to be set -up on every social network. However, I do recommend that you get set up On Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube. Those are the most popular Social Networks, and the most requested by clients.

2. Learn about Building Relationships- Yes, it's great if you know how to make a pretty banner, and background image. But Social Networking is not about who has the prettiest networking site. It's about building relationships, rapport and connection with your ideal clients. You really need to understand your client's needs, and then use the social networks to connect with their ideal clients.

3. Learn about Strategy- Social Media is much more than saying what you ate for lunch and posting updates. Everything you do on Social Media should go back to the bigger picture. Of course you want to build relationships, but essentially you want those relationships to turn into loyal paying clients. So, you want to learn how to craft an effective strategy for your clients so they can see the value in what you do.

4. Always Continue Learning - Social Media is no longer the wave of the future. It's here to stay, and businesses are learning to embrace the power of Social Networking for their brand. However, they don't want to get caught up in the changes. As a Social Media Manager, it's your job to stay abreast of what's going on in the Social Space & then report back to your client. They don't need a 20 page report, just give them enough information so they can understand why you do certain things the way you do.
