Now If you are making a gel candle you are going to want to use a zinc wick as this is not going to absorb the gel. For all other candles however you can use a cotton wick or a wood wick. There are a few different types of wax that you can use with the most basic being paraffin wax. Now if you want to go all natural then you can use beeswax or all natural soy wax which burn just as nicely but are more environmentally friendly. If you want, you can even make wax out of crayons, this removes the need to buy any color dyes.

Color dyes - One of the more fun candle making supplies are the dyes. You get to choose the color of your candle and you can find these dyes in many different locations. These come in many forms but the most popular are the dye chips and the liquid dyes.

Fragrances - What is a candle without scent? The most popular form of fragrances are the oils. These are great as they will last you a long time and you can have fun mixing and matching scents to go with the theme of the candle that you are creating.

A Double Boiler or a Pouring Pot - Whichever you use you know how much you need it. Although some candle wax can be melted in the microwave, the majority of them need to be boiled. If you can afford a pouring pot to add to the rest of your candle making supplies then that is great, if not then just use the double boiler. If you do not own a double boiler then you can always make one. You do this by using a sauce pan and a soup can. Simply put the wax you need in to the soup can and put some water in the sauce pan and have at it!

A Thermometer - Essential in you arsenal of candle making supplies. For safety alone you always want to use a thermometer when melting the wax in order to ensure that everything is at the right temperature.
